Nitin Bodke ( Badki of HUMLOG)

I was just smarting from a muscle pull in my lower back and unable to sleep when I started browsing my email on my phone and saw Nitin's email. I willed myself up and got the computer on to read it and reply to all of you.

I wish I could write more but the pain is like a HUGE bamboo up my ass.. So I will edit this post later...reproducing email from Nitin Bodke.

Please note I am not divulging any contact numbers and email ids here for the fear of spamming. For that you have to be a part of our mailing list. This is for those who missed all the action and may or may not browse through the entire email.

Shailus reply to Suhas Katti Batti

I did forget to mention when I received the first initiating email from Shailu, I did compose my email and sent it to everyone and then I called up Shailu, he too returned my call after couple of hours and we spoke on the subject. There we planned to push this into a big movement and lets see where it goes from hereon.

I called up Laxagiri Tiwaskar but as is her habit since last 4 years that we met, she never answers any phone calls and never even responds to SMS unless and until they mention MARATHI MANOOS... I sent her a text for which she hasnt replied.

I called up Shalini Mathur and she was as cold as Antartica ( Antartica is getting warmer as reported in Newspapers today but Shalini aint ) she told me as a matter of factly that SHE HAS NO CONTACT WITH ANYONE FROM SCHOOL DAYS ( what abt me, the guy who is calling her, what about shailu whom she was chasing for an opening) and She doesnt want to be ...you know what..so I gave up and spoke to Shailu, I told him...fuck it man...2 cold calls and I dont like the concept already. He said lets push it and see how far it goes. So here I am at 3.24am on the 24th of Jan putting all this on the blog for everyone to see.

Shailu's Email

Chupe rustom Suhas,
Class IV mein, Nav saal ki umar mein setting, that too with the class teacher, half chaddi mein shi shi puppy shame...... not expected from you ......... as Sonu(Manpreet) mentioned even I agree that she was the most beautiful teacher in our school, very fair only teacher to wear imported perfume & lipstick. Suhas I am sorry u have stiff competition now , count me also in as a part of her fan club.
Sonu it was really amazing meeting you after such a long time during Ganpati at ESIC Nagar and dancing on the road with banjo/tun tuna playing in the background during visarjan. It was basically action replay after 15 yrs and I genuinely enjoyed like a school boy.
Recess Ki Ghanti... Chotu bajata tha ....guys can you hear that ring in you ears.....wow how does it sound. Every one used to breakfree, had their own small gang of friends with whom we use to share our tiffin box. My dabbha friends Sudhir, Saif Abid Hussien, Sanjeev, Ganesh, Bhupi....we all would head to the terrace open air cafeteria, Ganesh would go to our food court uncle ka super thanda Vada Pav & Amla Supari (Dimag Ki Ghanti Bhaji)
Special mention to my dear friend Sudhir who's tiffin box was always filled with the best south Indian cuisine I have ever head in my life, thanks to his mom. It's 9 pm I am still in office feeling hungry and as I am typing this mail slowly I am feeling that same taste in my mouth of his dabbha (Dosa and green mint plus onion chutney, soft idlis with coconut chutney) an ultimate delight. I believe I cheated because I would trade his dabba with guess what Marie biscuit... or in a best case scenario Gluco biscuit (Parle-G). Sudhir never had a problem with sharing his dabbha and I am sure till date he must be doing the same thing with his colleagues in office. Hope when v meet next time u carry your homemade dosa/idli and take me down memory lane I am sure lot of our other school friends would not mind joining us for this south indian food festival what say guys. Picnic in National Park aur Suhas tu beer leke aana ........ha ha ha
Pravin Bangera needs to be caught hold off because he was the CR/GS of cosmos college and very lucky to spend 5 more years...... I am sure he can use his charm/leadership quality and get more girls from our batch to join in.
The original Harley Davidson dude-Ajay Ahuja how can I not mention good times that we had watching movies at your place. I still remember it was "BACK TO THE FUTURE" ..... Manish Bhoola his next door neighbour how r u guys doing??
Saurabh Chitre- last I met him was some 10 yrs back in a local train post that not in touch with him
Nitin Bodke continues teaching at his "Bodke Classes" in Andheri which has been one of the most premium coaching classes, an institution which his father started 30 yrs ago. I met him in Lokhandwala a couple of years back, I am sure he would love to get connected to the gang
Prajit and I were like inseparable, throughout in the same class in school, then 5 yrs in college B Sc (Bhavan's) first job-Sun Pharma. He has now shifted from veera desai road so do not meet him regularly but in touch over phone.
Vande Matheram- Happy Republic Day.............. "SALLAMI DENGE SAALAMI DO" Desai Sir v love u, where is my toffee
Cheers Shailu

Introducing Manpreet Singh

I had to call up Manpreet in Delhi to inform him of what is happening. The mad surd did not answer the phone and when he did it was 24hrs after I called him. I was boozing when he called me and I had to tell him half drunk about what is happening. My guess is he too was sozzled.

Email from Suhas Katti

Thanks guys.. I went on a real nostalgia trip !!! Coincidently, i had gone to the school abt 15days ago to get some attestion for leaving certificates. I had not gone there after passing out.. Guys.. It has changed a lot & hopefully for better!!! I still remember my first crush on Ms. Anuradha Kapoor - a fair, tall n beautiful classteacher in IV th std (with an xtra thumb) - Do you guys remember her?, Archana Surve - classmate in IV or Vth stds who so tragically passed away while still at school and a certain girl named X who was a classmate in Xth std - who shall remain nameless!!! I remember cursing Hriydanath ;coz i used to sit with this girl & due to some mischief by Hridaynath; Fatima made him sit next to her & shifted me some place else!!!! I ocassionally do meet Balu More, Saurabh Chitre, Mahesh Nambiar.. The best thing is that i had my first beer with some of you guys during the school picnic to National Park.. Where is Jagdish lunwara & Amit Gandhi? Is anybody still in touch with them? Enough of my nostalgia trip!! Although, Cosmo was not Bombay Scottish or Cathederal or even Jamnabai ; it was still a gr8 place to be in ; notwithstanding the teachers & staff!!!! . I really enjoyed my time in Cosmo much more than in Sydenham; coz school is anytime better than college - especially the crushes i had !!!! Signing off, I passed from Sydenham & did my MBA in Finance & have worked with Investment Banks in Securities Trading & Deal Making . Presently, i am looking to set up my own Trading or Back office business. Thanks Guys!!!! ciao, suhas katti

My feelings on Shailu Email

I could not resist reading it and thoroughly savoured each word as it was the most exotic cuisine in the world.
Childhood, school, girls, I am sure any man would give and arm and leg to relive them. I had to reply to all the friends listed there in the email.

Email from Dheeraj Suri to the Group.

Shailu, Well written cos from standard 5th onwards, I guess you, me and sardar shared a lot of fun. We were the TRIMURTI (sala no one used to take us in their cricket team and we made on of our own) in ESIC Nagar and beat the shit out of all reigning teams in entire pin code of 400058. (ha ha ha) Your email made me smile and brought that small tear to my eye... I really feel that those days will never come as maturity and stupidity has clouded our brains leaving the childishness brutally battered somewhere. I very fondly remember you, Sonu and me walking to school together, sitting down in our classes and getting shafted in each period. Kneel down outside the class ha ha ha ha Trying to sneak a peek into the blouse of Ms. Alexander, the curvy waist of Rita Bhatt (Drawing Teacher). Bhole Teacher calling us all YOU HEADACHE, Mrs. Albert sending us to collect maps. That pretty teacher who teached us chemistry in 10th I guess, her pallu used to fall down and she used to ignore and say AH LOOK HERE CHILD...what fun we had looking at those globes. Mrs. Khanna, our Hindi teacher in class 6, who used to tie our ties together and make us roam around the school compound for messing in her class ( I guess Yogesh Palkar and one more guy got a lot of her treatment) In 1984, when we were in 7th Standard, You were blackmailing me to remove your name from blackboard, you would tell me Sab ko KASHMIR ke baare main bata dunga, naam nikaal. Ashish Gandhi was the class monitor that time and he got pasted from Desai Sir for not being able to control the class and then Desai Sir made me the monitor and I had to blame sleeping Hridaynath for the chaos in class and he got a nice thwack on his face and i got plenty of them from Hridaynath and his cronies after school, but that was better than Desai Thappad There is so much lot to write and share. I wish in the coming months all of us try to get together. I miss Prajit Chakkatil, Mahesh Nambiar, Amol Dighe, Makarand Shriyan, Brian (everyone spelled him BRAIN) Atul and Vipul Deokar, Dinesh Pande, Santosh Parab (he got a solid pasting from Desai Sir, when we were having a PT lesson in 7th standard, fuck thats 1984, i still remember that first PT period we had as the class teacher Alexander was absent and Santosh was in his own dreams), Michael (Cycle), Darshan Kalarickal, Sudhir Menon (Sudhri), Raminder, Shalini Mathur (Mathura). Yogesh Palkar (He screwed the school in 6th standard I guess with some fraud signatures), Dhaval, Suresh Vaswani (He called Mrs. Maya Meghal as MAYA in the staff room and Mrs. Kutty shafted him), Mukesh, Santosh Vachani, Ajay Ahuja, Manish Bhoola, Laxagiri, Kalpana Ramakrishnan, Vandana Pawar, Sapna Kulkarni, Yogita , Rekha, Vaishali Rai, Anjali,Lopa and Amutha (where is she yaar, i lost touch with her since 1992). Guys, If I have forgotten some of you, you are invited to kick my ass atleast that way we will get back in contact. Shailu, I am going to Africa on the 26th and will be back around 1st week of March so in the meantime please push for each one of us to get organised so one day we can meet and chill out. Preferably in School Uniform (ha ha ha ha) Keep in contact and lets not compose new emails but forward from hereon so that everyone can read where we started as and when they keep coming into the group. I have added a few ids to the mailing list you have created. Or do you think we should create an egroup or something like that. Love you guys, even if some of you were complete assholes, you made special memories. As Shailu signed off, Currently I am riding recession, I have my own steel company in 3 Countries of West Africa and one small company in Berlin, Germany. A Salute to your effort Shailu. Love you guys, Dheeraj S. Suri

How it all started...A collection of Memories

One simple email from Shailesh Hegde aka Shailendra Hegde aka Shailu aka Chota Shailu aka Chotta Chetan aka TAULYA started it all... going through the reports of my company in Africa, Shailu's email popped in full of nostalgia.. and then it took shape of a unstoppable Jaggernaut and here we are with a movement that is fast gaining strength and may culminate in one of the most treasured event in each ones life.

Date 21st Jan 2009.

Email from Shailu.

Hey Guys!!!!!
It's been really really a looong time-20 years to be precise. I still remember our school days, D division thru out from Std 5 - 10th. Our last few days in school in our 10th standard, floating our confession book around......what excitement it was to get feedback from our friends especially girls. I am sure many of us must have preserved it as a souvenir.
We used to look forward to our PT sessions, that Tuta hua bat and cover nikla hua tennis ball, Pus football, Guts tuta hua badminton racket aur shuttle cock ka mein kya bolu. Hope u guys remember atleast some of our cricket matches. Then our annual sports day which used to happen in Bhavan's ground. Atul used to be a gr8 sprinter especially in the 100 meters dash, soccer, cricket an allrounder needless to mention the way he excelled in studies. Lot of us used to borrow his book for notes I still remember Pankaj, Saurabh, Yogesh........but no one could come closer to his marks.
Our school day memories would be incomplete with out mentioning some of our great teachers:-
Class teacher Std 10th-Fatima teacher : Inspite of her height she was a terror, her pinches in the rib cage and tichki on the lips can never ever be forgotten-( I was the lucky one to experience both)
PT Sir- Desai Sir Urf Petloo: some of the exercise tests he used to conduct were hilarious, he wanted us to do exercise 3 and the class used to do something else. one , two , three, bend on four, arms stretched on one side and what not. My most memorable moment of him would be the 26th Jan/15th Aug Flag hoisting ceremony where infront of the entire school he used to give the march past order "SALAMI DENGE... SALAAMI DO" his voice would echo in the entire school compound and he never needed a mike, that was the only time he use to don a khaki scouts uniform otherwise his trademark dress code was bell bottom trousers and a tight half sleeve shirt with a protruding pot belly.
Crafts Sir-Tikam Sir Urf Dilip Vengsarkar : Soft corner towards girls, his trademark was Ruler fatka on the palm with all his force as if he could see M. F Hussein in each one of us. His never ending diwali homework, some 25 paintings, freestyle, sketches, crayons, water colour, stencils, apple, banana............( entire diwali vacation used to get screwed) but still ur homework is not complete.
Music teacher- One of the most embarrassing moment of my life was the music exam, test used to be sing a bhajan, patriotic song....... "Ohe Re Taal mile Nadi ke Jal mein, Nadi mele saagar mein , sagar mile kaun se jaal mein koi jane na, ohe re taal mile nadi ke jal mein....... sooraj ko dharti tarse, dharti ko chandrama....... i can go on and on, it is still fresh in my memory. What a torture but now when u look back it was fun, infact fun for the rest of the class :):):)
I am sure each one of us will have lots more to share and re live our school days when we plan to meet one day. I am looking forward to it. Guys pls add more email id's of our friendsfrom school if u have.
I am currently working with Sony Entertainment in sales function, my office is in Malad, behind IN ORBIT
Cheers for the class of 1988!!
Warm regards Shailu (Shailendra Hegde/Shailesh Hegde)
